Overview
Hydraulic oil is a machine component, not a consumable
It transmits power, lubricates the pump, cools the circuit and carries away contamination. Grade and cleanliness together decide whether a pump lasts ten thousand hours or one thousand.
ISO VG selection follows pump type, operating temperature and pressure. VG 32 suits precision machine tools, servo and proportional valve systems and cooler ambient conditions where low viscous loss and fast response matter. VG 46 is the global default for industrial and mobile hydraulics at moderate temperature. VG 68 is for high ambient temperature, higher operating pressure or older systems with increased internal clearance, where the thicker film maintains volumetric efficiency and reduces slip.
The HLP designation under DIN 51524 Part 2 means a mineral hydraulic oil with additives for oxidation resistance, corrosion protection and anti-wear performance. The anti-wear chemistry — typically zinc dialkyldithiophosphate — protects vane tips, gear teeth and piston slippers at the boundary condition that occurs every time the pump starts under load. Vane pump wear tests (Vickers V-104C type) and IS 3098 requirements are the reference points our grades are blended to.
Beyond wear, four properties govern circuit life. Oxidation stability keeps the oil from forming sludge and varnish that stick spool valves. Demulsibility separates water so it can be drained instead of emulsified, since water destroys the AW film and corrodes bearings. Air release and low foaming prevent spongy, noisy operation and cavitation damage at the pump inlet. And filterability keeps the oil passing through fine filters — down to 3–10 micron — without stripping additives or blinding elements.
The super clean, water-white grades are severely hydro-treated, low-aromatic, high viscosity index base stocks with very low sulphur and nitrogen. They give longer oxidation life at high temperature, better filterability, cleaner varnish-free valves and clearer visual condition monitoring — worth the premium for injection moulding machines, CNC and servo-hydraulic systems, and any circuit with high-pressure axial piston pumps and fine filtration. Conventional AW grades remain the correct, cost-effective choice for general workshop and mobile equipment.
We supply against your written specification, disclose the blending plant on the offer, and ship a batch certificate of analysis covering viscosity at 40 °C and 100 °C, viscosity index, flash point, pour point and, on request, copper-strip corrosion, rust prevention, foam and demulsibility results.

How we work
We source from India's established brands — we do not manufacture
Akarta Exports is a sourcing and export house. We do not own factories and we do not claim to. Our value is that we know which well-known Indian brands and manufacturers make what, to what standard, and at what price — and we buy from them to the exact specification you give us.
01 — Your specification, written down
We start from your specification, not from a catalogue. Grade, dimension, tolerance, finish, test standard, pack, artwork and labelling are put in writing and confirmed with you before a single enquiry goes out.
02 — Matched to the right Indian brand
We place that specification with established, well-known Indian brands and manufacturers in the cluster that genuinely makes the product — Morbi for tiles, Rajkot and Ludhiana for machinery, Meerut and Jalandhar for sports goods, Kerala and Gujarat for spices.
03 — Offers compared on merit
Because we own no plant and owe no factory a minimum offtake, we compare offers openly on quality, consistency, capacity and price — and tell you where a lower price will not hold up in your market.
04 — Inspected, consolidated, shipped
Our own inspectors clear the goods at the brand's plant and again before loading. Multiple brands and multiple divisions consolidate into one container, one invoice and one document set.
Brand names are disclosed to you on the offer and named on the inspection report, so you always know whose production you are buying. Where a buyer already has a preferred Indian brand, we are happy to source that brand and handle only the inspection, consolidation, documentation and shipping.

Quality assurance
Nothing leaves India until our own inspectors clear it
Akarta runs an in-house quality department with inspectors assigned to each division. Goods are checked at the factory during production and again before loading, against the written specification agreed on your purchase order — not against the factory's own grading.
- Pre-production sample approved by the buyer before bulk manufacture begins
- In-line checks during production for shade, calibration, dimension and moisture
- Pre-shipment inspection with photographic report before container sealing
- Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) arranged where required

Buyer questions
What importers usually ask us first
VG 46 or VG 68 — how do we decide?
Ambient and system temperature decide it. In temperate conditions with modern pumps, VG 46 is the default. In sustained high ambient temperature, in high-pressure circuits, or in older systems whose internal clearances have opened up, VG 68 maintains the film and volumetric efficiency. If the machine plate specifies a grade, follow it — running too thin causes pump wear, too thick causes cavitation and heat on cold start.
Is the super clean grade worth the premium?
For high-pressure axial piston pumps, injection moulding, servo valves and any system with 3–10 micron filtration, yes: better filterability, longer oxidation life and varnish-free valve operation translate directly into fewer sticking spools and longer pump life. For general workshop presses and mobile equipment on coarser filtration, the conventional AW grade is the right commercial choice.
What does HLP mean?
HLP is the DIN 51524 Part 2 classification for mineral hydraulic oils containing additives that raise ageing and corrosion resistance and provide anti-wear performance. It is the classification European machine builders reference, and it is the level all our VG 32/46/68 grades meet.
Can we mix these with the oil already in the system?
Mineral AW and HLP oils of the same viscosity grade are generally miscible, but mixing families dilutes the benefit of the better oil and mixing viscosity grades changes the operating viscosity. Best practice is to drain, flush and refill with a single grade, then filter the new charge into the tank rather than pouring it in.
Do you supply fire-resistant or biodegradable fluids?
Yes, to your written specification: HFC water-glycol fluids for foundry, steel and furnace-area hydraulics, HFDU synthetic ester fluids where biodegradability is required, and NSF H1 registered food-grade hydraulic oil for food and beverage plant. These are quoted per project with the blender named on the offer.
