Division 05 · Food processing machinery

Complete food plants, engineered in India and commissioned in your country.

India builds food machinery that runs for decades on modest power and ordinary maintenance — which is precisely why it dominates in Africa, South-East Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. Akarta engineers, buys, inspects and ships that machinery as complete plants, not as loose equipment on a packing list.

Overview

A machinery desk that quotes plants, not price lists

Nobody buys a food factory one machine at a time. We quote against your raw material, your target output, your voltage and your building — then supply every item between the intake hopper and the packed carton, with one bill of lading and one accountable engineer.

Indian food machinery is fabricated in a handful of highly specialised engineering clusters. Rajkot and Gujarat build oil expellers, pulverisers and flour milling plants; Ludhiana and Punjab build rice mills, dal mills and grain handling; Coimbatore and Tamil Nadu build wet grinders, bakery ovens and snack lines; Delhi NCR builds packaging and filling machinery. Because Akarta sits inside the Rajkot engineering belt, we buy where the machine is genuinely made rather than from a trading intermediary.

Every project starts with a process flow. We ask for the raw material (crop, variety, moisture, oil content), the finished product specification, the hours you intend to run per day, the electrical supply available at site and the built area you have. From that we prepare a machine-by-machine equipment list, a connected-load calculation in kW, a civil and foundation drawing and a plant layout drawn to your building dimensions.

Machinery is inspected during fabrication, then trial-run under load at the works before dispatch. Trial-run video and no-load current readings are shared with the buyer for approval. Only after written approval is the equipment dismantled, marked, crated and loaded — with a complete crate-wise packing list so nothing is hunted for at destination.

Food-contact parts are quoted in SS 304 as standard and SS 316 where the process demands it; structures in MS with food-grade epoxy or SS cladding. Motors are supplied in IE2 or IE3 efficiency class to your voltage and frequency — 415 V / 50 Hz, 380 V / 50 Hz or 440 V / 60 Hz — with panels wired to IEC standards and, where required, IP 55 enclosures for humid or dusty environments.

How we work

We source from India's established brands — we do not manufacture

Akarta Exports is a sourcing and export house. We do not own factories and we do not claim to. Our value is that we know which well-known Indian brands and manufacturers make what, to what standard, and at what price — and we buy from them to the exact specification you give us.

01 — Your specification, written down

We start from your specification, not from a catalogue. Grade, dimension, tolerance, finish, test standard, pack, artwork and labelling are put in writing and confirmed with you before a single enquiry goes out.

02 — Matched to the right Indian brand

We place that specification with established, well-known Indian brands and manufacturers in the cluster that genuinely makes the product — Morbi for tiles, Rajkot and Ludhiana for machinery, Meerut and Jalandhar for sports goods, Kerala and Gujarat for spices.

03 — Offers compared on merit

Because we own no plant and owe no factory a minimum offtake, we compare offers openly on quality, consistency, capacity and price — and tell you where a lower price will not hold up in your market.

04 — Inspected, consolidated, shipped

Our own inspectors clear the goods at the brand's plant and again before loading. Multiple brands and multiple divisions consolidate into one container, one invoice and one document set.

Brand names are disclosed to you on the offer and named on the inspection report, so you always know whose production you are buying. Where a buyer already has a preferred Indian brand, we are happy to source that brand and handle only the inspection, consolidation, documentation and shipping.

Quality assurance

Nothing leaves India until our own inspectors clear it

Akarta runs an in-house quality department with inspectors assigned to each division. Goods are checked at the factory during production and again before loading, against the written specification agreed on your purchase order — not against the factory's own grading.

  • Pre-production sample approved by the buyer before bulk manufacture begins
  • In-line checks during production for shade, calibration, dimension and moisture
  • Pre-shipment inspection with photographic report before container sealing
  • Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) arranged where required

Packing & shipping

Packed the way your market receives it

Machinery is heavy, awkward and easily damaged in transit. Every consignment is crated to survive multi-modal handling, and marked so that erection at site follows the drawing rather than guesswork.

  • Heavy machines bolted to skids inside fumigated ISPM-15 wooden crates
  • Machined and food-contact surfaces greased, VCI-wrapped and sealed against sea air
  • Crate-wise packing list with item codes matched to the general arrangement drawing
  • Fasteners, belts, screens and spares boxed separately and clearly labelled
  • Control panels crated upright with shock-absorbing packing and desiccant
  • Over-dimensional items shipped in flat rack or open-top containers with lashing plan

Documentation

Paperwork prepared in-house, not outsourced

Every consignment travels with a complete document set, prepared by our own documentation team and checked against your letter of credit or contract terms before dispatch.

General arrangement & foundation drawings

Machine-wise GA drawings plus civil foundation and anchor-bolt details issued before shipment so site work can proceed in parallel.

Electrical schematics & load sheet

Panel wiring diagrams, motor list with kW and current ratings, and total connected-load calculation for your incoming supply.

O&M manuals & spare catalogues

Operation, maintenance and lubrication schedules with exploded views and part numbers for every fast-wear component.

Test & inspection certificates

Works trial-run report, no-load current readings, material test certificates for food-contact steel and third-party inspection report where required.

Buyer questions

What importers usually ask us first

Do you supply single machines or only complete plants?

Both. Most enquiries become complete plants because that is what a processor actually needs, but we regularly supply individual machines — an expeller, a pulveriser, a rotary oven — to processors expanding an existing line. Single machines are quoted with the same drawings, spares and commissioning options.

Will the machinery run on our voltage and frequency?

Yes. Motors and control panels are built to your supply: 415 V or 380 V at 50 Hz, or 440 V at 60 Hz, three-phase. Tell us the voltage, frequency and whether your supply is stable; where it is not, we quote servo stabilisers or generator-suitable starters rather than letting the plant suffer.

Can you send an engineer for installation and commissioning?

Yes. Erection and commissioning supervision is quoted as an option on every plant. Our engineer's air fare, visa, local accommodation and per-diem are to the buyer's account; the supervision fee is fixed in advance. Typical deputation is 7–21 days depending on plant size, and includes operator and maintenance training.

What about spare parts after the warranty period?

Every plant ships with a two-year fast-wear spares kit: worms and cages for expellers, hammers and screens for pulverisers, rubber rolls for rice mills, belts, bearings and seals. Repeat spares are dispatched by air courier for urgent breakdowns or consolidated by sea for planned maintenance.

How do you guarantee the output capacity you quote?

Capacity is always quoted against a stated raw material specification — crop, variety, moisture and, for oilseed, oil content. Where the contract requires it, we run a performance guarantee test at site on your material after commissioning and record the achieved output against the contracted figure.

What are your commercial terms on machinery?

Typically 30% advance with the order and the balance against an irrevocable letter of credit at sight, or against documents. FOB Mundra, Kandla or Nhava Sheva is standard; CFR and CIF to your port are quoted on request, including flat-rack and open-top freight where machines are over-dimensional.
