Overview
Fast-moving goods bought the way a distributor sells them — by SKU, not by tonne
An FMCG importer does not need one product in volume; they need forty SKUs in the right ratio, with shelf life on arrival, artwork their regulator accepts and a landed cost that survives local retail pricing. That is what this division is built around.
We buy from Indian FMCG manufacturers and their export divisions — the biscuit, snack, tea, beverage, staple, edible-oil, confectionery and home-and-personal-care factories that already supply organised retail in India and hold FSSAI licences, and where relevant HACCP, ISO 22000, BRCGS, halal and kosher certification. We are not the factory. We select the factory against your specification, your regulator's labelling rules and your price point, and we tell you which brand is behind each line on the offer.
Shelf life is the commercial centre of an FMCG shipment. Every line is quoted with total shelf life and the minimum residual shelf life we will load against — normally at least 75% remaining at the port of loading, or a figure you set — and production is planned so a 30–40 day voyage does not eat your sell-through window. Batch and best-before coding is photographed before the container doors close.
Labelling is handled at origin, not left to you. Ingredient declarations, allergens, nutrition panels per 100 g, net content in local units, importer name and address block, country of origin, barcode (GS1 or your own range), and language sets — Arabic, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Swahili, Russian — are printed into the pack or applied as approved overlabels before shipment, against the artwork proofs you sign off.
Because a distributor's first order is rarely a full container of one product, we build mixed loads: several categories, several brands and several pack weights on one invoice, on one bill of lading, palletised to a written stowage plan so the container is unloaded in the sequence your warehouse picks in.

How we work
We source from India's established brands — we do not manufacture
Akarta Exports is a sourcing and export house. We do not own factories and we do not claim to. Our value is that we know which well-known Indian brands and manufacturers make what, to what standard, and at what price — and we buy from them to the exact specification you give us.
01 — Your specification, written down
We start from your specification, not from a catalogue. Grade, dimension, tolerance, finish, test standard, pack, artwork and labelling are put in writing and confirmed with you before a single enquiry goes out.
02 — Matched to the right Indian brand
We place that specification with established, well-known Indian brands and manufacturers in the cluster that genuinely makes the product — Morbi for tiles, Rajkot and Ludhiana for machinery, Meerut and Jalandhar for sports goods, Kerala and Gujarat for spices.
03 — Offers compared on merit
Because we own no plant and owe no factory a minimum offtake, we compare offers openly on quality, consistency, capacity and price — and tell you where a lower price will not hold up in your market.
04 — Inspected, consolidated, shipped
Our own inspectors clear the goods at the brand's plant and again before loading. Multiple brands and multiple divisions consolidate into one container, one invoice and one document set.
Brand names are disclosed to you on the offer and named on the inspection report, so you always know whose production you are buying. Where a buyer already has a preferred Indian brand, we are happy to source that brand and handle only the inspection, consolidation, documentation and shipping.
The range
What we ship
Send us a SKU list — or a photograph of the shelf you are trying to fill — with pack sizes and target landed prices, and we will come back with brands, formats, shelf life and container loadability against it.
- Biscuits, cookies & bakery snacks
- Glucose, marie, digestive, cream-filled, butter cookies, wafers, rusk and cake bars in 40 g to 1 kg family packs. Quoted with total shelf life (typically 6–12 months), carton count, cases per pallet and container fill so a 20 ft load is optimised on volume rather than weight.
- Namkeen, extruded snacks & nuts
- Bhujia, mixture, chana, moong dal, banana and potato chips, corn puffs, ring and pellet snacks, roasted and salted nuts. Nitrogen-flushed metallised pouches from 15 g impulse packs to 400 g family packs, with pillow-pack or box-pack shippers.
- Tea, coffee & beverages
- Assam, Nilgiri and Darjeeling black tea in loose, CTC and tea bags, green and masala tea, instant and filter coffee, malt drinks, fruit juices and nectars in tetra and PET, carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks and drink powders.
- Staples, flour & pulses
- Basmati (1121, 1509, Pusa) and non-basmati rice, whole wheat atta, maida, sooji, besan, toor, chana, moong, urad and masoor dal, poha, vermicelli, sugar, jaggery and iodised salt in 500 g retail to 50 kg bulk.
- Edible oil, ghee & fats
- Refined sunflower, soybean, palmolein, groundnut, rice bran and cottonseed oil, cold-pressed and kachi ghani mustard oil, coconut oil, vanaspati and pure cow ghee in 200 ml to 15 L jars, pouches and tins.
- Ready-to-eat, condiments & pickles
- Retort-pouch curries and dals with 12–18 month ambient shelf life, instant mixes, mango and mixed pickles, chutneys, tomato ketchup, mayonnaise, cooking pastes, papad and instant noodles.
- Confectionery & chocolate
- Hard-boiled and deposited candy, éclairs, toffee, lollipops, chewing gum, compound chocolate bars and enrobed lines, jar packs and pouches — with heat-resistant formulations and insulated loading for hot-climate destinations.

- Detergent powder and bars, liquid detergent, dishwash bar, powder and gel, floor cleaner, toilet cleaner, glass cleaner, bleach, phenyl and air fresheners — sourced with GHS-compliant labels and safety data sheets.
- Personal & baby care
- Bath and beauty soap, shampoo, conditioner, hair oil, toothpaste and brushes, talc, skin cream and lotion, deodorant, shaving products, sanitary napkins, baby soap, oil and wipes — cosmetic lines with ingredient lists in INCI naming.
- Private label & first-order assortments
- Your own brand across biscuits, snacks, tea, oil, detergent and soap under one label programme, or a starter assortment of proven lines in trial quantities so you can test a market before committing to depth.

Quality assurance
Nothing leaves India until our own inspectors clear it
Akarta runs an in-house quality department with inspectors assigned to each division. Goods are checked at the factory during production and again before loading, against the written specification agreed on your purchase order — not against the factory's own grading.
- Pre-production sample approved by the buyer before bulk manufacture begins
- In-line checks during production for shade, calibration, dimension and moisture
- Pre-shipment inspection with photographic report before container sealing
- Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) arranged where required

Packing & shipping
Packed the way your market receives it
FMCG containers fail on crushed cartons, split pouches and heat damage far more often than on product quality. Packing and stowage are specified with the order, not left to the factory's habit.
- Retail primary packs in metallised laminate, PET, tetra, tin or carton to suit the line and the climate
- 5-ply export corrugated shippers with declared bursting strength for stacked loading
- Nitrogen flushing and oxygen scavengers for fried snacks and fat-bearing lines
- Palletised and stretch-wrapped loading with corner boards, or floor-loaded to a written stowage plan
- Heavy and light categories balanced across the container so weight and volume limits are hit together
- Container liners, desiccants and temperature-tolerant recipes for Gulf and West African voyages
- Overlabelling or full artwork printing with importer block, barcode and multilingual declarations
- Shipping marks, carton coding and a loading photograph set filed against every consignment
Documentation
Paperwork prepared in-house, not outsourced
Every consignment travels with a complete document set, prepared by our own documentation team and checked against your letter of credit or contract terms before dispatch.
Health & FSSAI documentation
Health certificate, FSSAI licence copy and manufacturer declaration for food and beverage lines.
Certificate of analysis
Batch analysis covering the parameters agreed on your order, plus allergen and nutrition data for label verification.
Free sale & halal certificates
Certificate of free sale, halal or kosher certification and non-GMO declarations where the destination market requires them.
Safety data sheets
GHS-compliant SDS for detergents, cleaners and aerosol or flammable lines.
Commercial set
Invoice, packing list with batch and best-before data, bill of lading, certificate of origin and pre-shipment inspection report for SONCAP, PVoC, COC or SABER markets.

Buyer questions
What importers usually ask us first
Can we mix categories in one container?
Yes — that is how most FMCG programmes start. A single container can carry biscuits, snacks, tea, edible oil, detergent and soap from different manufacturers on one invoice and one bill of lading. We plan the mix so weight-limited lines like rice and oil balance volume-limited lines like biscuits and snacks, and so nothing scented travels against unprotected food.
What shelf life will the goods have when they arrive?
We load against a written minimum residual shelf life — normally 75% of total, or a figure you set — and schedule production close to dispatch rather than shipping ageing stock. Batch and best-before codes are photographed before the doors close, and the packing list carries batch and expiry data per SKU.
Will the labels comply with our local food regulations?
Labels are prepared for your market before printing: ingredient and allergen declarations, nutrition per 100 g, net content in local units, importer name and address, country of origin, barcode and the language sets you need. You approve a printed proof for every SKU before the packing run starts.
Can you supply under our own brand?
Yes. Private label is routine across biscuits, snacks, tea, edible oil, staples, detergent and soap. You provide brand, artwork and pack weights; we match a manufacturer with the right line, minimum quantity and price point, and share pre-production samples for sign-off.
Do you handle halal, SONCAP, PVoC or SABER requirements?
Yes. Halal and kosher certification is arranged at the manufacturer where required, and pre-shipment conformity schemes — SONCAP for Nigeria, PVoC for East Africa, COC for the Gulf and Iraq, SASO/SABER for Saudi Arabia — are managed with the appointed inspection agency before shipment.
What is the minimum order?
One 20-foot container, built from as many SKUs as you need. Trial assortments across several categories are welcome, and an FMCG load can also travel alongside another Akarta division — spices, pet food or textiles — in the same shipment.
