The right construction for the traffic it will take
Good vitrified tile is not hard to find in India; matching the construction to the application is where buyers lose money. Tell us the traffic, the environment and the finish you want, and we will shortlist constructions rather than send a price list.
A soluble salt tile priced for residential bedrooms will not survive a shopping-mall concourse, and a full-body commercial tile is an expensive way to floor an apartment. Because the four constructions sit within a wide price band, the specification decision usually moves the landed cost more than negotiating the tile price itself.
Large formats have changed how vitrified tile is bought. A 800×1600 or 1200×2400 mm glazed vitrified slab gives near-seamless floors and cladding, but it needs rectified edges, careful crating and an installer briefed in advance. We quote large format only with the crating and handling instructions included, because breakage on arrival is the fastest way to lose a programme.
Every article we shortlist comes with the factory's ISO 10545 test data, the production lead time, and a photograph of the actual batch. Approved samples are retained at our office and used as the reference for pre-shipment inspection.

We start from your specification, not from a catalogue. Grade, dimension, tolerance, finish, test standard, pack, artwork and labelling are put in writing and confirmed with you before a single enquiry goes out.

We place that specification with established, well-known Indian brands and manufacturers in the cluster that genuinely makes the product — Morbi for tiles, Rajkot and Ludhiana for machinery, Meerut and Jalandhar for sports goods, Kerala and Gujarat for spices.
03 — Offers compared on merit
Because we own no plant and owe no factory a minimum offtake, we compare offers openly on quality, consistency, capacity and price — and tell you where a lower price will not hold up in your market.
04 — Inspected, consolidated, shipped
Our own inspectors clear the goods at the brand's plant and again before loading. Multiple brands and multiple divisions consolidate into one container, one invoice and one document set.
Brand names are disclosed to you on the offer and named on the inspection report, so you always know whose production you are buying. Where a buyer already has a preferred Indian brand, we are happy to source that brand and handle only the inspection, consolidation, documentation and shipping.

Vitrified tile constructions we supply
Four constructions, four different jobs. The description below is the practical difference, not the marketing one.
- Double charged vitrified tiles
- Two colour layers are fed and pressed together, so the pattern penetrates 3–4 mm into the body. The most cost-effective choice for high-traffic commercial floors that must keep their appearance for years. Usually 600×600 and 800×800 mm.
- Full body vitrified tiles
- Colour runs through the entire thickness, so chips and deep scratches stay largely invisible. The standard specification for industrial floors, transit halls and anywhere the surface will be ground or re-polished later.
- Soluble salt vitrified tiles
- Colour is applied before the final firing and penetrates the surface layer. Deep, varied patterning at the most competitive price point in the vitrified family; suitable for residential and light commercial floors.
- Glazed vitrified tiles (GVT & PGVT)
- A digitally printed and fired glass layer over a vitrified body. The widest design choice by far — marble, stone, wood, cement, terrazzo — with excellent stain resistance. The volume seller for residential, retail and hospitality interiors.

Akarta runs an in-house quality department with inspectors assigned to each division. Goods are checked at the factory during production and again before loading, against the written specification agreed on your purchase order — not against the factory's own grading.

Vitrified tile is dense and heavy, and large formats break if they are loaded like small ones. Packing is quoted with the tile, not bolted on afterwards.

What importers usually ask us first
Which construction should I choose for a shopping mall?
Double-charge vitrified in a matt or lightly textured finish is the usual answer: the pattern penetrates several millimetres into the body, so heavy footfall does not wear a visible traffic path. For very heavy or industrial traffic, full body is the safer specification.
What is the difference between GVT and PGVT?
Both are glazed vitrified tiles. GVT is the glazed vitrified tile as fired; PGVT is the same tile with the glazed surface polished afterwards, which gives a higher gloss. PGVT looks closer to polished marble; GVT in a matt finish hides scuffing better.
Can you supply rectified edges?
Yes. Rectified tiles are cut to size after firing so the dimensional tolerance is tighter and grout lines can be as narrow as 1.5–2 mm. It is worth specifying on large formats and on any project where a near-seamless floor is expected.
How do you protect large-format slabs in transit?
800×1600 mm and above ship in wooden crates with foam or cardboard edge protection, restrained inside the container so the crates cannot shift. We photograph the loaded container before sealing and send the images with the shipping documents.
