Injection-moulded plastic toy cars, building blocks and a ride-on toy on a factory inspection table

Toys & games · 01

Plastic toys come down to the mould, the resin and the test report.

A friction car or a building block is only as good as the steel tool it comes from and the granules fed into it. We source from moulders in Delhi NCR and the Mumbai belt that have their own tool rooms, use virgin food-grade resins, and test every SKU to the standard of the country it is going to.

Overview

Moulded toys, made to a specification

Plastic and mechanical toys are the biggest part of India's 9503 exports. Most export orders are made to the buyer's design, from tools cut in India and owned by the buyer.

Resin choice decides safety and feel. ABS for building blocks and vehicle bodies that need gloss and precise fit; PP for flexible parts and hinges; HDPE and LDPE for blow-moulded and roto-moulded ride-ons, sand sets and outdoor toys; TPR for soft-touch grips and wheels. All colourants and masterbatches have to pass EN 71-3 and ASTM F963 heavy-metal limits, and any soft PVC is tested for the phthalates banned under REACH and CPSIA.

Tooling is often the biggest single decision. A P20 or H13 steel tool built in India can run hundreds of thousands of shots. The buyer usually pays for it once, owns it, and the factory keeps it for repeat orders. We record tool ownership, cavity count and shot life in the purchase order so there is no argument later.

Mechanical and electric toys need extra tests. Friction and pull-back motors are torque and drop tested. Battery compartments must need a tool to open, and button cells must be secured to the latest EN 71 and ASTM F963 rules. Toys with electronics need IEC 62115 (EU) testing, and RoHS where it applies.

How we work

We source from India's established brands — we do not manufacture

Akarta Exports is a sourcing and export house. We do not own factories and we do not claim to. Our value is that we know which well-known Indian brands and manufacturers make what, to what standard, and at what price — and we buy from them to the exact specification you give us.

01 — Your specification, written down

We start from your specification, not from a catalogue. Grade, dimension, tolerance, finish, test standard, pack, artwork and labelling are put in writing and confirmed with you before a single enquiry goes out.

02 — Matched to the right Indian brand

We place that specification with established, well-known Indian brands and manufacturers in the cluster that genuinely makes the product — Morbi for tiles, Rajkot and Ludhiana for machinery, Meerut and Jalandhar for sports goods, Kerala and Gujarat for spices.

03 — Offers compared on merit

Because we own no plant and owe no factory a minimum offtake, we compare offers openly on quality, consistency, capacity and price — and tell you where a lower price will not hold up in your market.

04 — Inspected, consolidated, shipped

Our own inspectors clear the goods at the brand's plant and again before loading. Multiple brands and multiple divisions consolidate into one container, one invoice and one document set.

Brand names are disclosed to you on the offer and named on the inspection report, so you always know whose production you are buying. Where a buyer already has a preferred Indian brand, we are happy to source that brand and handle only the inspection, consolidation, documentation and shipping.

Quality assurance

Nothing leaves India until our own inspectors clear it

Akarta runs an in-house quality department with inspectors assigned to each division. Goods are checked at the factory during production and again before loading, against the written specification agreed on your purchase order — not against the factory's own grading.

  • Pre-production sample approved by the buyer before bulk manufacture begins
  • In-line checks during production against the written specification on your order
  • Pre-shipment inspection with photographic report before container sealing
  • Third-party inspection (SGS, Bureau Veritas, Intertek) arranged where required

Buyer questions

What importers usually ask us first

Who owns the mould?

Normally you do, once the tooling cost is paid. Ownership, cavity count and expected shot life are written into the purchase order, and the factory holds the tool only for your orders.

Can you match colours to our Pantone?

Yes. Masterbatch is matched to your Pantone references and approved on moulded colour plaques before bulk production, then checked on the pre-shipment inspection.

Do battery toys need special shipping?

Lithium cells packed with or inside equipment ship under UN 3481 rules with the right marks and documents. Most of our buyers ship toys with alkaline cells supplied separately to keep it simple.
